By NAAC grade
NAAC grades the overall quality of a university. Except where marked, every university here is UGC-DEB entitled; the grade mainly tells you about brand strength and academic reputation.
- NAAC A++: Amrita, DY Patil Pune, JAIN University, Kurukshetra University, LPU, Manipal (MAHE), NMIMS, Parul University, SRM, Symbiosis (SSODL), VIT
- NAAC A+: Amity University, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Chandigarh University, Galgotias University, GLA University, Graphic Era University, Jaipur National University, Mangalayatan University, Manipal University Jaipur, Sharda University, Shoolini University, Sikkim Manipal University, Uttaranchal University, VGU Jaipur
- NAAC A: O.P. Jindal (JGU), UPES
Lowest fees among them
The same UGC entitlement is available at very different prices. The lowest starting online MBA fees on this list are Mangalayatan University (₹67,000), Graphic Era University (₹80,000), Galgotias University (₹80,200). See every course sorted by fee in our guides to the cheapest online MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, B.Com and BA.
What about foreign online universities?
Foreign universities such as Golden Gate University and Liverpool John Moores University are not UGC-DEB entitled because UGC entitlement applies to Indian universities. Their degrees are recognised abroad and are WES-evaluable, which suits private-sector and international careers. Read foreign online MBAs from India for the fine print on Indian equivalence.
Quick answers
Is “UGC-approved” the same as “UGC-entitled”?
Yes, in everyday use. UGC’s official term for online and distance programmes is “entitled”: the UGC Distance Education Bureau entitles a university to offer specific programmes in online mode for an academic year.
Are all online universities in India UGC-approved?
No. Only universities on the UGC-DEB list can award valid online degrees, and only for the programmes listed. Every Indian university on Gradonline is UGC-DEB entitled for the programmes we cover, except O.P. Jindal (JGU), whose online MBA page does not state it. You can confirm any of them at deb.ugc.ac.in.
Is an online degree from these universities valid for government jobs?
Yes. Degrees from UGC-entitled universities are treated at par with regular degrees under the UGC 2020 regulations. See online degrees and government jobs for UPSC, SSC, banking and PSU details.
Which UGC-entitled online university is best?
It depends on your budget and goal. A NAAC A++ brand suits you if reputation matters most; a value university gives the same validity for less. Take the 1-minute quiz or message us on WhatsApp for a shortlist that fits your course, budget and goal.
