Where it can take you

  • Operations or plant manager
  • Supply chain and logistics management
  • Procurement and vendor management
  • Inventory and warehouse management
  • Quality and process improvement

You stay in your job while you study, so most people use the degree to move up where they already work or to shift into a nearby role. Online MBAs have no campus placements. Most universities still give career support, resume help and a job portal.

Who tends to enrol

  • Engineers and supervisors in manufacturing who want a manager role
  • Staff in logistics, warehousing and e-commerce operations
  • People working in procurement or vendor management

Comparing your options

  1. Look up UGC-DEB entitlement for the MBA and the current session at deb.ugc.ac.in. All the Indian universities here are entitled except possibly O.P. Jindal (JGU), whose online MBA page does not say. Confirm it with JGU before you apply.
  2. Read the operations syllabus and check that the live class times suit your working hours.
  3. Work out the full fee with exam and registration charges, and any early-bird or upfront discount.
  4. Think about whether a well-known name matters to the companies you want to work for. If not, a cheaper university gives you the same validity.

Each pair of universities has its own comparison page, for example GLA University vs Uttaranchal University.

Quick answers

Which is the cheapest online MBA in operations & supply chain?

Mangalayatan University, at ₹67,000. Galgotias University comes second at ₹80,200.

Is the degree valid?

It is, provided the university is UGC-DEB entitled. You get an MBA that UGC rules treat as equal to a regular MBA for jobs, promotions, government recruitment and further study, with the specialisation recorded by the university.

Can I switch specialisation later?

Usually you pick or confirm it in the second year, and a few universities allow two. Each university has its own rules, so check before enrolling.
